James and I went and saw a Nashville Predator's hockey game the other day with our friends Collin and Max. None of us really give a crap about hockey, we just went to get out of the house and drink $9 beer in a cold arena.
I don't know who the opposing team was. I don't know what the score was. I don't know who won. I do know I was pretty tipsy.
Another thing I can tell you is that while we were leaving the game, we passed a school bus that was parked right outside the arena. It said Tennessee School for the Blind on the side.
Who the hell brings a bunch of blind kids to a hockey game?
I am truly astounded by this comment! I can tell you who would bring blind children to a live hockey game it is people who care have a heart! Tell me this why wouldn’t blind kids get to hear a live hockey game like those who are blessed to have vision? What gave you the right to be there your vision? Maybe the alcohol did not let you think very clearly at this moment to SEE that even those with a vision disability would too enjoy a live hockey game; they unlike you probably knew who the opposing team was and who won! Jackie my heart is heavy for you at this moment you represent our country and as a combat medic. What if it was one of your comrades you rescued who lost their vision there listening to the game? You do not need to see to FEEL! God Bless you and our country! I pray God sheds light on your heart and mind!
ReplyDeleteDo you understand the term 'legally blind'? Not all of the kids who attend the school for the blind are totally blind. Some have impaired vision. These kids can still go bowling, go to a movie and enjoy watching a hockey game. These kids are just kids. They have souls, they have feelings. They love, they laugh, they cry and they bleed just like "normal vision" kids. To make fun of them is disgusting. I think you may want to go back to kindergarten to learn the golden rule. Treat others as you want to be treated. And beware of Karma!
ReplyDeleteThe question is not who let the blind kids go to the game but who let the stupid drunk ignorant person go!
ReplyDeleteYou would think a combat medic would have understanding for visually or otherwise impaired individuals. I feel true sympathy for anyone under your "care"
ReplyDeleteDo you even know what she's done?! You are the ignorant one trying impose on the rights of our constitution. It's called free speech. I respect your right to be an ignorant coward and guess what... I fought for that right too!!!
DeleteFUCK THEM BLINDIES THERE A WEIGHT ON THE PRODUCTIVE NATURE OF OUR PEOPLE!!!
ReplyDeleteNot what I'm saying. I was pointing out the irony. IRONY. I'm not out hating on the blinds or the gays or blacks or the civilians or whoever else it's fashionable to hate.
DeleteOh the Internet, how buttons get pushed and people suddenly find their ANONYMOUS voices.
ReplyDeletePeople need to not be so sensitive! Wow you write about things you find amusing or situations that you experience. The right to express yourself and not be judged by people who don't know the meaning of sacrifice. Keep fighting the good fight Iraqi Jackie.
ReplyDeleteFor your information Sagen patton -I do know the meaning of sacrifice. My Grandfather fought in WWII. My father fought in Vietnam and my spouse was in the navy. They have never had the indecency to make fun of anyone for their differences. I am a parent who teaches my children to embrace people for their differences because it is what makes the world a beautiful colorful place.
