Well thanks, Army, for doing me dirty once again. Apparently before you deploy to a foreign conflict, every Soldier is supposed to complete a DD Form 1833: ISOPREP. Ok, so I know that means absolutely nothing to most people. ISOPREP stands for Isolated Personnel Report. Still mean nothing to you? Let me go on. It's basically a profile of each individual Soldier in case they are missing in action or captured or kidnapped or whatever fancy-pants name you want to call it.
ISOPREP logs your scars, tattoos, allergies, your parent's names and addresses, etc. Basically all the things that would make it easier to identify you. It's a good thing... unless you're 7 months into a deployment and you're filling it out for the first time ever in your military career!
Jesus....
So I did my ISOPREP today while I was at work. Part of the information required was a front and profile photo from the neck up. A mug shot to be broadcasted all over the news if I'm captured or missing in action. This is what happened:
Someone could have told me to fix my damn hair! Or to put on some makeup! Or to quit looking like a deer caught in headlights! I have more motivation to not be a prisioner of war just so that picture doesn't end up on every American newspaper known to man! Sheesh, thanks Army, for doing me dirty....
And here I thought Isoprep was something you ingested to combat stomach flu.
ReplyDeleteI think you look adorable. But then I am a little biased.
I can always count on you to crack me up. You must have a little of your Granpa Kelly in you

ReplyDeleteThis is funny, i'm trying to take care of some leave documents (also in the military and over the pond) and I came across your site googling isoprep. After reading your blog I remembered what ISOPREP was . Thanks for the help.
ReplyDeleteYour pic looks fine, but you seem to be having much more fun in the one where you're drinking a tall boy.
Wow, google ISOPREP and this what I find. Amazing how the "Army did you wrong", nothing could be furthure from the truth on this one. If we are using your ISOPREP, then something has gone terribly wrong and chances are we are not looking for you at the local Starbucks, with you all dolled up. This picture is nearly perfect for an ISOPREP. "Whatever fancy pants name you want to call it" ??? Wow and to think that some people would take your recovery very seriously, while you'd rather get on some blog and complain about "the Army doing you wrong". You must have been the only Soldier in the past 20+ years to be drafted. I'm sorry. I do see that that this blog is over three years old now, I sure hope your views have changed or you're out now and not leading Soldiers. You might want to delete this blog so that it doesn't come up when you search ISOPREPS, just a friendly suggest from those who care about your safe return (if ever needed).
