We unloaded five Sim Men out of the connex today. The Sim Man is a simulation manikin that medics get to play with as learning tools. They have injuries we can practice treating. They can be hooked to computers and programmed to have a heart rate and breath sounds. Their chests will rise and fall and they can even scream in pain. But before they can do any of that cool stuff, they have to be put together.
There was a lot of laughter in the EVAC shack today.
During EMT school we had a unit on Emergency Childbirth. Due to an old high school brown-noser perfectionist gene that had apparently lain dormant since 1988 I picked a seat front and centerso I was treated to three hours of full plastic beaver shot; they parked the practice middle-third of a manikin with woman parts that spit out a lubricated plastic baby right in front of me. After running ambulance three years I can testify that the real thing isn't nearly as disturbing.
ReplyDeleteI actually LOLed for that last picture with you in it. It looks like a really large vagina on your stomach!
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the Mommy Dummy. She is seriously disturbing. So is the little alien fetus that pops out. I remember one we had at EMT school was broken so you had to force the fetus out and it would come flying out like a rocket.
